Cairns LGBT Alliance

The Cairns LGBT Alliance invites participation from all people interested in the impact of social policy and legislation on LGBT+ communities.  Membership is open to all persons who support the objectives of the organisation.

We not aligned to any political party or broader organisation.•We recognise and respect the diversity of opinion which exists within the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender communities and aim to be inclusive of the wider views that exist within our communities.

We work collaboratively with organisations and individuals to formulate the Alliance’s positions and actions on those issues which concern our community.

We provide a forum for building community networks and the discussion of issues affecting the LGBT communities.

1. To advocate on behalf of local LGBT+ communities and provide a means for the community to speak with a united voice.
2. To build social capital by empowering the people of LGBT+ communities to engage in public policy debate on issues of concern.
3. To provide a mechanism for planning actions and campaigns to address social and political issues affecting the LGBT+ population.
4. To work with all levels of government and civil society to address issues that impact on LGBT communities in Tropical North Queensland.
