Healthy Snacks for Kids and Adults too!

Learning what are the best healthy snacks to feed your children is an important part of being a responsible parent. You want them to feel full and satisfied as well as get the right nutrients and energy they need to carry on running around and dancing and doing what kids do. Snacks keep you going until the next mealtime, there is nothing wrong with snacking as long as it is the right kind at the right times. That is why we have put together some great and tasty snacks for goods, that could work as healthy snacks for work for adults just as well too!

Homemade snack mix

Creating your own snack mix is a great way to give them things they like that you can control in terms of fat, sugar and salt content. Buy a bag of dried fruit chips, nuts, seeds and such, get an empty container and add them all in together. You can create all kinds of snack mixes, sweet versions, savoury or mixes and it is healthier and cheaper than the kind you buy ready-made.

Ants on a Log

An oldy but goldy! Celery sticks, peanut butter or if you have allergies or just do not like it, cream cheese works too. Then some raisins, or any dried fruit pieces. Slice the celery stalks into logs, fill them, and add the 'ants'. It is something they could even make with you from a young age and learn about food preparation and healthy snack choices.

Pita with Hummus

A great healthy snack for work or children is hummus with whole wheat pita. Toast the pita if you want some crunch. Hummus is really good for you, packed with protein and fibre. Easy and quick to make.

Green Bean Chips 

When you are wanting something salty and crunchy and have a craving for chips you could try one of the healthier baked versions, or move from the potato to another baked crispy veg snack like green bean snacks.

Nuts and seeds

Seeds and nuts are full of great things, you just have to eat them in moderation. You can eat sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, almonds and so on. Some can even be eaten in the shell. You can roast them, add a little salt, or leave then natural. Great healthy snacks for everyone.

Healthy popcorn

Popcorn is a healthy snack, it is just that people tend to add a lot of bad stuff on top of it! Too much sugar, salt, butter commonly. Keep it lighter on those toppings and it is a super snack to share.

Yoghurt 

Yoghurts are great snacks for all ages and are perfect as a healthy snack for work as they are so portable. Full of calcium and cultures that are good for your gut too. Get them in all kinds of flavours or get a natural yoghurt and add your fresh fruit and a drizzle of honey.
